The Beast is just that, a beast of race. Taking in some of the most spectacular views of Dorset, the 13(ish) mile ‘undulating’ course starts on Corfe Castle Common before heading out towards Worth Matravers and then on to the coastal path with great views of the sea! The course then heads back towards Corfe with only a few ‘minor’ hills to get up.
Jackie and I entered this race as part of the Purbeck Trail Series. There are 6 races:
Lulworth castle 10k, Studland 5k, The Beast, The Purbeck Marathon, Black Hill Run and Studland Stampede.
Runners entering any of the races will automatically score points for The Purbeck Trail Series.
The more events you run, the more points you earn. (Your best 4 results will count).
The Beast was one of the hardest races I have run, but also one of the most scenic.
Very well organised, race instructions were emailed, large car park in field, 4 water stations, good visible signs, and lots of friendly marshals.Bottle of water, box of Ryvita and a t-shirt were given out and the finish line. Nice design on the t-shirt, but it was BBROWN.
